VILLA PALAIS BULLES IN FRANCE

beautiful modern buildings - summer house - amazing architecture

This is amazing. Palais Bulles was designed by architect Antti Lovag in the 80s for fashion designer Pierre Cardin. The home only uses curved shapes to form the structure—this place has to be a haven for ideas.
The organic nature of its design greatly suggests it. This home feels like such a great merge between mid-century design and some of Verner Panton’s work. [ via : wanken ]

SunShower SSIP House Built in NOLA

In September 2010, I mentioned the winning design in a competition involving steel SIPs from OceanSafe.  The REOSE Sunshower SSIP model, designed by Tulane University professors of architecture,
Judith Kinnard and Tiffany Lin, is now complete and demonstrates a home that can withstand hurricane-force winds and extreme weather while still incorporating the latest in energy- and water-saving technologies. Read more [ via : jetsongreen ]

A++ Architects Design Sustainable Modular Lightweight Houses for Malaysia

A++ has designed a new set of 50 Sustainable Modular Lightweigth (SML) houses for a project located in the city of Melaka in the south-west of Malaysia. The project maintains a light ecological footprint by employing a variety of green building strategies and systems – including an on-site river filtrating system. The homes are also designed to mitigate the region’s strong rain and intense sun with roof-mounted solar photovoltaic systems and hydroelectric generators.
Bamboo facing is used on the front facades of the homes in order to provide natural ventilation, and the structures are made of Profil Haus steel for quick assembly. Natural fibers are used for thermal and acoustic insulation. The result is a residential complex that is sustainable both economically and socially. The project is in its development stage and has already gained international recognition and awards.Read more [ via : inhabitat ]

Ren; The People’s Building

To start off, all of you architects / know-it-alls [same thing, I know] out there need to suspend your criticism briefly to enjoy this project. Yes, it would be [somewhat] structurally complicated, and no, nobody seems to know how elevators and all that junk would work. But who cares? Point is, Ren, designed by the Danish firm PLOT [now split into BIG and JDS] is pretty sick looking.

The project is in the good ol’ People’s Republic of China, intended for the World Expo of 2010, which is set to take place in Shanghai. Here’s a description of the building from Eikongraphia, which I decided I wouldn’t bother rephrasing, since they were quoting it anyway:
‘The REN Building is a proposal for a hotel, sports and conference center for the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. The building is conceived as two buildings merging into one. The first building, emerging from the water, is devoted to the activities of the body, and houses the sports and water culture center. The second building emerging from land, is devoted to the spirit and enlightment, and houses the conference center and meeting facilities. The two buildings meet in a 1000 room hotel, a building for living. The building becomes the Chinese sign for ‘The People’, and a recognizable landmark for the World Expo in China.’

Amazing architecture Stoneage Style House in Portugal

This is a stoneage house that has amazing architecture and design exterior.Placed in a peaceful pastoral setting in Nas Montanhas de Fafe, Portugal. This hillside house boasts unobstructed, untarnished views of the grass-covered mountain and valley. This unusual structure isn’t your typical house, featuring an irregular
exterior, but some traditional “house” elements were incorporated – namely, its charming windows and a shingled roof that stands out among these seemingly untouched, natural surroundings.

Architecture Cleveland Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health Building by Frank Gehry

The Cleveland Lou Ruvo Center situated at the intersection of I-15 and I-95 in downtown Las Vegas Nevada, designed by Frank Gehry of Gehry Partners. This building holds the distinction of being the first organization to open for business in Symphony Park, the city’s 61-acre arts and science redevelopment program. While Gehry’s design incites varied reactions from observers, the one consistent response is a desire to come inside its walls and learn more.

In this respect, the building is an unwavering marketing tool, driving awareness to the work conducted by those inside.”. The architects manipulates space and materials to create stunning structures that captivate
the imagination. His design of Keep Memory Alive’s headquarters at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health has been nothing short of remarkable. The Gehry teams have created a masterpiece of architectural design, blending strong visual impact with superior efficiency in patient care.

Library Parking Garage amazing architecture

I found a picture of this the other day while searching for photos from Kansas City and I knew
I had to go
photograph it myself. This is probably one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I live here and I've never heard of it before—it makes me wonder what other secrets my hometown might be hiding.

1,000 DOORS PUBLIC ART BY CHOI JEONG-HWA

Even though this project was built in 2009, we still like looking back on the 1,000 Doors public art piece created by Korean artist, Choi Jeong-Hwa. The 10-story building was covered with colorful, recycled doors that made an otherwise bland structure into a colorful, stunning coherent construction of found art. The artist
has created a series of beautiful installation work over the years, but this piece done in South Korea is one of the most impressive. (via)

Modern Home Extension Displaying a Clever Architecture in Germany

Architecture company dmvA designed a modern and original home extension entitled “vB4” and located within the countryside of Brecht, Germany. According to the project developers, “the extension from the existing  form resulted in a floating volume built with trapezoidal wooden structures. The new timber parts followed the same frames and studs as the original. These borders next to each other connect the old and new space creating a new library, washroom and entrance area. The exterior is recladded in black stained siding positioned vertically to create a similar repetitive motion as the surrounding forest. The back and front of the home is fully glazed with a movable partition wall which allows for uninterrupted views of the adjacent garden and pond.” The new addition was planned on a challenging surface of only 26 square meters, while considering the strict building regulations of the municipality. Have a look at the photos below and tell us if you believe the lack of space had any negative effect on the “look” of the new building.
